Workflow

A month-end close that is mostly done

Time, revenue and margin already line up.

A service business closes its books on people’s time as much as on transactions. When time, projects and accounting share one record, most of the close is done before the month ends.

The steps

  1. Timesheets and expenses chased and approved
  2. Unbilled time and work in progress from the projects
  3. Revenue recognized by the project’s billing rules
  4. Supplier invoices and accruals posted
  5. Intercompany entries between legal entities
  6. Balances reviewed and reconciled
  7. Margin by project, client and practice
  8. The period closed

Where it usually breaks

Waiting for data that lives elsewhere. Finance cannot close until timesheets are in, project managers have checked work in progress, and someone has rebuilt the margin report in a spreadsheet. Each month the same reconciliations are done by hand.

How Perspectiv connects it

Projects, time and purchasing create the accounting entries as the work happens. Work in progress and revenue come from the projects themselves, so finance reviews numbers instead of assembling them. See month-end close for service businesses for a fuller checklist.

Questions

Does Perspectiv handle more than one legal entity?

Yes. Each legal entity keeps its own books, with intercompany accounting between them and consolidation in a later phase.

Can we see margin before the month is closed?

Yes. Margin by project, client and practice is available at any time, from the same records the close uses.

When can we use this?

The private beta opens in Q2 2027 with Knowledge hub and CRM, with the framework underneath. The other modules in this process join as they are ready, and each one plugs into the same record.
